We are excited to share that Ethiopiaid has been selected to take part in the Big Give Women & Girls Match Fund appeal! Every donation made to Ethiopiaid via the Big Give during the campaign week 8th – 15th October 2025 will be matched.
For two years, Ethiopia’s northern region, Tigray, endured one of the deadliest armed conflicts in recent history, and it is women and children who have suffered the most. Health services have been decimated, forcing expectant mothers to make long and gruelling journeys to their nearest clinic, sometimes taking days, only to find them looted or rapidly running out of supplies. Without urgent care, complications in childbirth can lead to tragic loss.
How will your donations help?
By providing the right support, we can save babies’ lives and prevent more women from enduring this suffering. Our partners are working to train and equip Maternal Health Ambassadors, who travel into remote communities, identify pregnant women at risk, and help them access the care they so urgently need. They are also building and restoring maternity waiting homes so women can travel before they are in active labour, as well as re-equipping clinics with life-saving supplies.
