Condolence Message
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we at Hope Enterprises have learned of the passing of Sir Alec Reed CBE, the distinguished founder of Compassion Charitable Ethiopiaid. We extend our heartfelt sympathies and stand in solidarity with his beloved family and the entire Ethiopiaid staff during this difficult time. We join you in mourning the loss of an extraordinary man whose life’s work transformed countless lives.
Sir Alec Reed CBE was an exemplary leader; compassionate, visionary, and unwavering in his commitment to humanity. He lived his life in service to others, guided by a deep conviction that every person deserves dignity, opportunity, and hope. The enduring impact of Hope Enterprises reflects his generosity, his compassion, and his lifelong dedication to uplifting the poor and marginalized.
Because of his love for Ethiopia, thousands of young people have gained access to training, skills, and meaningful employment opportunities. Many who once faced despair are now thriving and contributing positively to society. Street children have received daily nourishment and care, and vulnerable families have been supported through difficult times. Our vocational training centers, University College, and numerous other initiatives became realities because of the support of his foundation, Ethiopiaid, and his remarkable alignment of vision with ours.
Hope Enterprises deeply values and honors the extraordinary legacy of Sir Alec Reed CBE. He was far more than a supporter of our work; he became a true member of our family. We shared a common vision, values, and a passion for service, witnessing his dedication to transforming lives firsthand. His foundation, Ethiopiaid, strengthened the work of Hope Enterprises and enabled us to reach many more Ethiopians in need. His compassion, integrity, and steadfast belief in the potential of the Ethiopian people opened doors for thousands to access education, acquire skills, and build hope for a brighter future. His influence is reflected in every achievement we celebrate, every child we feed, every youth we train, and every life touched by our programs. His legacy continues to guide and inspire the work we do each day as we carry forward his noble vision for generations to come.
As we remember him, we recommit ourselves to carrying forward his remarkable legacy. The best way to honor his memory is by continuing the work he began; reaching the poor, empowering the vulnerable, and transforming communities across Ethiopia. At Hope Enterprises, we will take meaningful steps to preserve his legacy, including establishing a lasting memorial in our compound so that future generations may know and be inspired by his life of service.
We pray that God grants comfort, strength, and peace to his beloved family and to the Ethiopiaid community. May the soul of Sir Alec Reed CBE rest in eternal peace, and may his legacy continue to shine brightly in the lives of all those he touched.
