FAQs

Do I need a visa to travel to Ethiopia?

Yes, you will need a tourist visa. Because of the way you apply for the visa, this must be done yourself, however we are here to help.

What vaccinations do I need before travelling to Ethiopia?

Vaccinations are available to protect you against infections such as yellow fevertyphoid and hepatitis A. But please consult your GP or local travel clinic for the most up to date advice.

Are there any specific entry requirements or restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic?

No, at present there are no regulations regarding Covid.

Will we still travel if there is political unrest – what happens if the trip gets cancelled at short notice?

We will only ever travel if it is safe to do so. We take advice from the foreign office and assess the risk. The trip will either be postponed, or a refund will be offered.

Do I need to take anti-malarial drugs on the trip?

Yes, it is recommended to take malaria tablets before, during and after visiting Hawassa. You do not need anti-malarial drugs for Addis Ababa.

Why are you offering a ground-only option?

We have found that some people prefer the option to extend their trip or fly into Ethiopia before our start date. This way, you can make your trip more flexible.

Can I use my credit/debit card?

Yes, there are ATM machines, and you can use your card in shops and restaurants.

Are the tourist visits extra costs?

No, all organised activities are included in your payment.

Do I need extra insurance if I am doing a run?

You will need to check with your travel insurance provider, we recommend calling your travel insurance to ask.

What happens if I cannot fundraise the full amount?

If it is within the 4 weeks before the trip, and you have not fundraised the full amount, you can pay the remaining balance yourself.

Yes, all internal transport is included for everyone. Those choosing the ground-only option will have to arrange their own international flights.

How much can I expect to spend during the trip?

When do I have to pay the fee to secure my place?

The registration period will be between the 13th and 28th of July. The deadline for paying the £250 fee is July 28th, however, please be aware we have had a lot of interest and spaces may go fast. To make this initial payment you can call us on 01225 476 385.
